The economic empowerment of Roma communities -
the focus of a Funding Line of 2 million Swiss Francs
The Programme Management Unit (PMU) for the Thematic Fund „Social Inclusion of Roma and other vulnerable groups” and the Department for Interethnic Relations within the General Secretariat of the Government organise on Tueday, September 2, 2014, the launching event of Line 2 of funding – „Economic empowerment” – of the programme. The Thematic fund „Social Inclusion of Roma and other vulnerable groups” is part of the Swiss- Romanian Cooperation Programme.
The funding line is addressing mainly non-governmental organisation (as potential applicants), as well as other entities, such as the public authorities (as potential partners).
The interested parties are invited to send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, providing the following information: the name of the entity/organisation represented, the delegated representative, his/her position, contact information. 50 entities/organisations will be invited to attend, on the basis of „first come, first served” principle. Each entity/organisation can delegated one representative/delegate.

About the Swiss- Romanian Cooperation Programme
The Swiss- Romanian Cooperation Programme with a total value of 181 million CHF is implemented between 2009-2019 and aims at the reducing of the economic and social disparities between Romania and the rest of the member states of the European Union, as well as the disparities between the regions of Romania.
About the Thematic Fund „Social Inclusion of Roma and other vulnerable groups”
The Cooperation programme is implemented on the basis of the Framework Agreement between the Swiss Federal Council, represented by the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency and the Romanian Government, represented by the Ministry of Public Finance. Annex 4 of the Agreement introduces the „Thematic Fund for the social inclusion of Roma and other vulnerable groups”, with a total budget of 14 million CHF. In the respective Agreement for the Thematic Fund (TFA) between the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC) and the Romanian Ministry of Finance the Management document for the Roma Inclusion Fund is included as an annex and thus part of the TFA. It defines in detail the operational organisation of the implementation of this Thematic Fund. The objectives of the Thematic Fund for Roma Inclusion is to support Romania in promoting the social inclusion and participation in the socio-economic life of Roma and other vulnerable groups. The priority areas of Line 1 of the programme are education and health, while Line 2 focuses on economic empowerment.
