Reform Fund Linked to the
Inclusion of Roma and other Vulnerable Groups
Mr. Ulrich Stürzinger, Head of the Division of New EU-Member States and His Excellency, Jean-Hubert Lebet, Ambassador of Switzerland to Romania participated with 80 representatives of local and regional authorities as well as members of 12 targeted communities at the launch of the project "zefiR. Together for the power of action" on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Administration Palace in Craiova, Dolj county.
ZefiR is a consortium initiative coordinated by Terre des hommes Foundation and the consortium consists of Amare Rromentza, Impreuna Agency, PACT and Pestalozzi Foundation as lead partners and Habitat for Humanity Romania and SASTIPEN as associate partners. The project is co-funded by a grant from Switzerland through the Swiss Contribution to the enlarged European Union amounting to CHF 3 million.
His Excellency Jean-Hubert Lebet, Ambassador of Swizerland in Romania pointed out the importance of such an integrated project for the development of Romania, especially that the results of such events are not immediate but they are effective in the long-run. In order to guarantee these long-term effects authorities must be involved in the projects and they must support the initiatives to ensure the sustainability of the programme.
At the end of the project, (46 months) the partners intend to assure that over 20,000 people have access to services and better education, health and housing. Communities selected in the project are Amarastii de Jos, Barca, Filiaşi and Negoi (Dolj county), Baia de Fier, Bumbeşti-Jiu, Polovragi and Targu Cărbuneşti (Gorj county), Caracal, Gradinari, Piatra Olt and Slatina (Olt County).
